We all know some pretty awful communicators. It’s just in life’s nature. Maybe you’ve missed a plane, or didn’t get around the same place at the same time because we or others failed to let you know where they were. A simple text message is a luxury denied to many. It’s an easy way to let someone know, in writing, that you’re there and that you validate their time. We wondered how love stories could be saved if people had the technology we did now. If they were part of the giffgaff network, how would it be different? Romeo and Juliet, it’s your turn to see what would have happened.
2 families, they were the same
In the place they came from they had skin in the game
Old time anger they clutched with baited breath
Until that overheld breath became their death
They had two kids, we’ll call them R & J
They fell in love, the not-so-classic way
If only they had their phones to connect
They could have lived and not have been a basic reject
A quick text and an emoji there
If giffgaff was involved they would have been square
But instead they came to a dead stop,
And if you’re ready for us to begin we’ll start with a mic drop
Picture a town like the one you’re in
With a boy so basic you couldn’t even
A pretentious aristocrat with nothing to do
But fall in love with girls, what an utter fool
He slid, not so casually, into Rosalide’s dms
She entertained him for a second but then oh then
She was onto the next, an instagram model to say the least
Our boy, Romeo, was broken and beat
On the other side of town
A girl too beautiful to call out of name
Juliet was loved by all who came
Many vied for her heart, yet she was the sheltered type
She had no thought of dating apps in the late night
But noble Paris was there, ready to take her hand
although Juliet was still developing her own plan
She had no clue what she was getting into
Until the party that night when she missed the social cue
Romeo showed up uninvited, there to rekindle his love
Until he saw Juliet l and heard angels from above
He’s seen her around, but he never knew
Who’s she was, or what a last name could do
A quick insta stalk could have been the fix
Or even linkedin if he was so bewitched
But, he fell hard and fast on that eventful day
Which is very on brand so to say
If only if only this was a 21st century play
Would he have ghosted the scene or chosen to stay?
A romantic to the bone, Romeo was lusty for love
But the Capulet cousin, Tybalt, ready to kill him if push came to shove
Romeo avoided his fate and went after Juliet
It was a night he’d never forget
He wooed and pleased her until the everlasting kiss
He got her number and couldn’t believe it came to this
There was something involved with the added thrill
He wanted to pin her down fast to get on with the netflix and chill
He showed up late in the night and tried to call
He was a giffgaffer, which made him best of all
But foolish Juliet had a different provider
They couldn’t talk for free, she was an outsider
He almost decided to call it quits
But he stuck it out so she could make the switch
He was a loyal and true member to his plan
Those goodie bags were too good to withstand
He professed his love and would be down to marry
Even though this weight he would have to carry.
They tried to stay in touch, but there were never ending problems
He came to realize there was no easy way to solve them
He spent time with his friends, waiting for Juliet to call
When Tybalt came in and wanted to start a brawl
Romeo oh Romeo why you gotta be this way
His temper got the best of him, and haunts him to this day
He killed Juliet’s cousin out of revenge for his friend
It was a tragedy that seemed to have no end
He was banished from Verona, sent out like a flash
For come the morning, he would have to dash
He went to spend one last night with her,
So he sent that late night text, but no answer
“Juliet, u up?’ he said
After hours he realized he had been ghosted :/
It was a tragedy, he didn’t know what to do.
He searched far and wide for her, even in the family tomb
To his dismay, Romeo found her dead.
No wonder why, she had left him on read.
Broken, and beat, everything went to his head,
He couldn’t carry on, Romeo gave up the ghost instead.
Not long after, Juliet awoke
Only to see that her Romeo had croaked.
She looked at him and screamed, “What have I done?”
“If only I had giffgaff, our love would have won!”
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and Romeo.
This too could be the fate
For a non giffgaffer who can’t relate
Whether you’re in or out, it’s yours to pick
But this and other tragedies could be easily fixed.
Give the gift of gab on our behalf,
And send a message of love with giffgaff
